AUTHOR'S CORRECTION
High-Level Heterologous Expression and Secretion in Rapidly Growing Nonpathogenic Mycobacteria of Four Major Mycobacterium tuberculosis Extracellular Proteins Considered To Be Leading Vaccine Candidates and Drug Targets

Günter Harth, Bai-Yu Lee, and Marcus A. Horwitz

Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California 90095

In our paper, the sequence of the gene encoding the M. tuberculosis Erdman 16-kDa major extracellular protein was included. Between submission and publication of our paper, Manca et al. reported the DNA sequence of the gene encoding this protein, referred to as MPT 63, in M. tuberculosis H37Rv. The DNA sequence of the 16-kDa protein gene from the Erdman strain of M. tuberculosis that we reported is identical to the sequence of the 16-kDa protein gene from the H37Rv strain of M. tuberculosis reported by Manca et al. This reference was inadvertently omitted from our paper:
12a. Manca, C., K. Lyashchenko, H. G. Wiker, D. Usai, R. Colangeli, and M. L. Gennaro. 1997. Molecular cloning, purification, and serological characterization of MPT 63, a novel antigen secreted by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Infect. Immun. 65:16-23.
