Individual strains of Staphylococcus aureus have different capacities to become internalized by osteoblasts. Here we report that the levels of
B expressed by S. aureus correlate with the capacity of this bacterium to be internalized by osteoblasts. However,
B is not essential for internalization and does not necessarily account for the differences in the capacities of strains to be internalized.
