    Representative transmission electron micrographs, obtained at the same magnification, of the apical membrane of midvillus enterocytes from the jejunum of immunocompetent control (A), immunocompetent infected (B), athymic control (C), and athymic infected (D) mice 6 days postinoculation. Trophozoites (T) can be seen in two of the micrographs. Microvillous characteristics were consistent along the entire epithelium, at sites of trophozoite colonization as well as in other areas.
