  • a Mice were treated i.p. or i.v. with serovar Abortus equi LPS (1 mg/kg) three times at 24-h intervals. Twenty-four hours after the last LPS injection, LPS-tolerant mice and saline-pretreated controls were infected with serovar Typhimurium (107 bacteria/kg i.p.). Total and differential counts of blood leukocytes were performed 1 and 48 h after infection. Data are expressed as means ± SD (n = 9 for saline controls and n = 6 for the LPS groups).
