  • a Mice were treated with serovar Abortus equi LPS (1 mg/kg i.p.) one to three times at 24-h intervals. Ninety minutes (TNF-α) or 6 h (IL-6 and IFN-γ) after the last LPS injection, cytokines were determined in the plasma and liver (TNF-α and IL-6) or spleen (IFN-γ). Saline-injected mice served as controls. Data are expressed as means ± SD (n = 3) and are given in picograms per milliliter for plasma and picograms per gram for the liver and spleen.
