  • a Apoptotic activity was measured in lungs of mice persistently infected with M. tuberculosis for 6 months, followed by in vivo neutralization of TNF-α with the monoclonal anti-TNF-α MP6-XT22. Similarly infected control mice received rat IgG. Paraffin-embedded lung sections were stained for apoptosis using the TUNEL assay. The number of apoptotic cells in the lungs of mice prior to antibody treatment was 20 ± 13.
