  • a C3H-scid mice were inoculated with 104 spirochetes and then treated with immune sera from B. burgdorferi-infected mice. Immune sera were administered within 1 h of spirochete inoculation (day 0) or 4 or 8 days after inoculation. Immune sera from immunocompetent C3H mice that had been infected with cN40 or N40-75 for 21 days were used. NMS, normal mouse serum (control).
