  • a Monocyte-derived DC and Mφ from five healthy blood donors were infected with M. avium at an approximate MOI of 10. The inoculum contained (2.1 ± 0.3) × 106 CFU. After 1 h of incubation, cells were washed and recultured in fresh medium as described in Materials and Methods. At the indicated time points, the number of viable bacilli in the cell lysates was determined by colony counts.
