  • a Groups of mice were treated i.p. with either anti-CD4 or anti-CD8 on days 0, 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, and 23. At the indicated days, blood smears were prepared and lymphocyte subpopulations were enumerated by immunoperoxidase staining. Details of the experimental protocols are provided in Materials and Methods.

  • b Data are presented as the mean percentage of either CD4+ or CD8+ T cells from three mice per treatment group.

  • c Groups of mice were also treated with either buffer or rat Ig. The proportions of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in those mice did not change appreciably and remained at approximately 19 and 12%, respectively.
